About Derek Rydall

The nephew of legendary film director, Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, Escape From Alcatraz, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers), Derek Rydall has been in show business most of his life. His diverse experience as an actor, screenwriter, playwright, screenplay consultant, and screenplay doctor give him the unique ability to understand film (and stories in general) on many levels, and allow him to give his clients that extra edge that takes their screenplay to the next level -- the one that sells!

As an actor, he starred in several films & television shows with Tom Skerritt, Charles Bronson, Elliot Gould, Tony Roberts (of Woody Allen films), Paulie Shore, director John Turtletaub (Phenomenon, National Treasure), and many others.

As a writer, screenplay consultant, and screenplay doctor, he has been on staff for Fox and Disney, developed projects for Saturn (Nicolas Cage’s company), RKO, United Artists, Miramax, Fine Line, Deepak Chopra, the creators of “Air Force One,” “Ghost,” and worked one-on-one with many writers, independent producers, and executives from around the world. All together, he has sold, had optioned, or been hired to write over 20 Film & TV projects.

As a Playwright, he co-created and starred in “Welcome Home Soldier,” which has run for over 10 years (the longest running drama in LA history), toured several cities, and sponsored many vets to go to the wall.

As a direct result of Derek’s consulting, clients have turned their books into screenplays, secured millions in financing, made 6-figure screenwriting deals, book deals, been hired to executive produce, direct, and star in their own movies, obtained major distribution, and won multiple film awards.
